We were nominated for the Sunshine Award by the incredible Lisa at She’s Losing It — and honestly we needed a little sunshine more than we let on.

Sweet Lisa…a huge inspiration to me at She’s Losing It has nominated us for the Sunshine Award. The Sunshine Award is a prize awarded to “bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.” 

It came as quite a surprise. These days I have’t really felt too full of sunshine with everything going on, but I am grateful that our readers still find us inspiring.

Lisa’s blog is an amazing story board of a woman who said goodbye to a size body she didn’t like, dedicated a ton of time, energy and support into exercise and nutrition. Transformed her life and body and is now competing in bikini body building competitions. Talk about inspiration! If we lived closer to her, I would hire her in a heart beat to train me once Gavin arrives.

So, for the Sunshine Award, you have to answer the following questions (which Adam and I did together) and then nominate 10 blogs who creatively inspire.

The 10 questions and our answers:

• Favorite color: Orange…after all according to South Korea, it was the color of the season.
• Favorite animal: goat dog…have you met Eunee?

 

• Favorite number: 6 It was Adam’s baseball number all through his career and we have used it ever since…for everything. We even lived once in apartment number 6…we knew it was meant to be.
• Favorite non-alcoholic drink: coffee (you should see us if we don’t have our daily cup) But in all honesty, Breakfast has always been a time for us to sit together over a yummy feast that Adam usually cooks up and we enjoy together each morning.
• Facebook or Twitter: Facebook…even though it truly isn’t a favorite of ours either. It really just enables too much to too many. Somethings should be kept personal and it seems at times to be an attention/ self fulfilling/ self actualization type tool. (Yes I know we are bloggers and “put it out there in many ways of social media,” but there has to be limits.
• Our passion:  To find happiness in everything we do
• Favorite pattern: hmmm… We both dress in pretty much solids…so, maybe the answer is, we are boring and don’t like pattern 🙂
• Favorite day of the week: Everyday is the same to us right now. However, Thursday nights is Person of Interest and we do love that show.
• Favorite flower: peonies, gerber daisies, white roses and liles … My wedding bouquet.

Q: What is the Sunshine Award for bloggers? A: The Sunshine Award is a peer nominated blogging award given to bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere. It is passed from blogger to blogger as a way of celebrating the voices and stories that make the online community genuinely worth showing up for. Being nominated by Lisa at She’s Losing It — a woman who completely transformed her life and body and is now competing in bikini bodybuilding — meant everything to us.

Q: What inspires Adventures We Seek as a blog? A: Honestly — real life. The good parts and the hard parts equally. We have never been interested in presenting a polished version of our adventures and that authenticity seems to be what resonates with people. Our passion as we answered in the Sunshine Award questions is simply to find happiness in everything we do — and to share that search openly with whoever wants to come along.

Q: What is your favorite thing about blogging? A: The connections. Every comment every nomination every message from someone who found our blog at just the right moment reminds us why we keep writing. Adventures We Seek started as a travel journal and has become something much more meaningful — a record of a life lived on purpose and the community of people who have been kind enough to follow along.

Q: Why did you start Adventures We Seek? A: Travel has been part of who we are since our very first trip together four months after our first date. The blog began as a way to keep family and friends updated while we were living in Korea and evolved into something we never expected — a genuine creative outlet a community and eventually a resource for families dreaming about doing something similar with their own lives.

Q: What blogs inspire you most as travelers and as people? A: We are deeply inspired by bloggers who share their lives honestly — the transformation stories like Lisa’s at She’s Losing It the creative voices and the fellow wanderers who prove every day that the life you want is available to you if you are willing to build it. The ten blogs we nominated in this post each do something that consistently makes us think feel or see the world differently.
