This was too cute not to share. Like it literally screamed… write about me.

While our house was being shown,You can read about the listing in We Are Under Contract to potential buyers last week we stayed at the Springhill Suites City Center in Lenexa Kansas Wednesday through Saturday. It was a great stay and we were grateful for the space.

Then we got to Miami.

And realized we had left Bun Bun behind.

In the bed. Under the covers. Like a tiny stuffed fugitive.

I called the hotel right away and asked them to set her aside for when we returned later in the week. They were kind and said absolutely no problem.

I did not expect what came next.

I opened my email this morning to start work and there was a message in my inbox with the subject line…

“Bun-Bun having fun!”

I hope everything in Miami is amazing! I know that Bun Bun has missed you all but I wanted to share that she has also been enjoying her extended stay here in Lenexa KS. Bun Bun helped staff out at the front desk making room keys… enjoyed some snacks from the market… and spent some relaxing time at the indoor pool!

Both Bun Bun and I are looking forward to your arrival back to Lenexa and are excited to hear about your trip.

Q: What should you do if you leave something behind at a hotel? A: Call immediately and ask them to set it aside — most hotels are wonderful about holding lost items for guests. What you probably should not expect is a full photographic documentation of your stuffed animal’s extended hotel stay complete with front desk duty and pool time. That part was exceptional and entirely Madison.

Q: Is Springhill Suites in Lenexa Kansas good for families? A: We stayed Wednesday through Saturday while our house was being shown to buyers and it was exactly what we needed — comfortable clean and conveniently located. The staff were genuinely wonderful. Madison specifically went so far above and beyond for our family that we will be recommending this hotel to everyone we know.

Q: How do you keep kids comfortable when your house is being shown during a sale? A: A hotel with space for everyone is genuinely the easiest solution. It gives buyers the freedom to walk through your home without the stress of coordinating around your family’s schedule and gives your kids a mini adventure in the middle of what can otherwise feel like a chaotic and unsettling week.

Q: What is Bun Bun? A: Bun Bun is a beloved stuffed animal belonging to our family who apparently has a whole independent social life when left to her own devices. She works front desk. She uses the pool. She enjoys market snacks. We had no idea she was this capable.

Q: How do you find good hotels for families during a move or transition? A: Look for suites with extra space so kids have room to spread out. Check for pools because a pool fixes almost everything. And apparently look for hotels staffed by people like Madison who will photograph your forgotten stuffed animal’s entire stay and email you about it from Miami. That is the gold standard.
