Lava Tubes, Horses, and Tangerines, the Jeju Kids Remember

Jeju is full of the kind of quirky, hands on stops that kids talk about long after, and here are the ones I load into a family trip.

Manjanggul is a lava tube, a giant tunnel carved through the rock by ancient lava flows, and you can walk deep into it. It is cool, dark, and a little bit of an adventure, and it ends at one of the largest lava columns in the world. Bring a light layer, it is chilly underground.

Jeju is famous for its little horses, and there are ranches around the island where kids can ride a pony or watch a show. It is a fun, easy stop.

The island grows tangerines everywhere, and in season, roughly fall into winter, you can visit a farm and pick your own, baskets and all. Kids love it and the fruit is sweet and everywhere.

For a rainy day, Jeju is packed with kid museums, a Teddy Bear Museum, a chocolate museum, mazes, and more. They are touristy but they save a wet afternoon.
