Tivoli’s 2026 Food Festival Is a Reason to Time Your Copenhagen Trip Around It

Tivoli Gardens is running a full food festival starting May 23, 2026, the week before Copenhagen’s Nordic Michelin ceremony. A regional market of Nordic ingredients, masterclasses on contemporary techniques and old traditions, and a real mix of refined tasting menus sitting right alongside casual street food stalls, all inside the park.

Late May in Copenhagen is already one of the best windows of the year weather wise, long daylight, mild temperatures, everything blooming, without the peak summer crowds or prices of July. Stacking a food festival on top of that timing makes it worth actually planning your trip dates around rather than just hoping you land in town while something’s happening.

Tivoli itself needs no introduction if you know anything about Copenhagen, it’s one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, older than Disneyland by more than a century, and it manages to be a genuine amusement park with real rides and also somehow feel elegant, with gardens, lights, and live music running through it. Adding a food festival into that setting fits it perfectly. This isn’t a park that does anything halfway.

For a family, I’d treat the festival as a food forward afternoon rather than trying to do rides and tastings in the same visit. Kids get tired of standing at food stalls faster than adults do, and adults get tired of roller coasters faster than kids do. Split it into two visits if your schedule allows, one for the rides and one for the food, rather than cramming both into a single exhausting day.

The masterclasses are worth checking ahead of time if you have an older kid who’s really into cooking. A hands on session with a real Nordic chef is the kind of thing that turns into a core memory for a food curious 12 or 13 year old in a way that just eating the food never quite does.
