For most families I’d pick June or July, when Juneau averages highs of 62 to 64°F, days run 18 to 19 hours and the salmon runs bring out the bears. May is cheaper and drier, and September is the least crowded but the wettest, with Juneau averaging 8.6 inches of rain.

May: highs around 57°F, nearly 18 hours of daylight, lower fares and the driest month. Humpbacks are migrating and bears are waking up.
June: highs around 62°F and up to 19 hours of light. Busy, but below peak.
July: highs around 64°F, peak salmon runs, peak whale watching and peak prices. It books up fast.
August: bears are feeding hard, crowds ease and it’s wetter.
September: highs around 56°F, the least crowded and the cheapest, with a chance of northern lights.
2027 is already on sale. Princess opened in August 2025, Royal Caribbean in October 2025 and Disney in February 2026.
