I will be straight with you. Delhi is a lot. It is loud, huge and intense, and it is also one of the richest history lessons on earth and the gateway to everything families come to India for.
The secret is pacing. Do one big sight a day, use the spotless Metro and a hired car with a driver, keep a calm hotel with a pool, and Delhi is not only doable but unforgettable for kids. A thousand years of empires sit stacked in one city, with a fort the size of a town, a tower older than most of Europe’s cathedrals, and rickshaws threading the old bazaars.
Go with plenty of water and snacks, drink only sealed bottled water, and even little kids come away wide eyed instead of worn out.
