Adventures We Seek: A Time Traveler’s Choose Your Own Adventure

Pick Your Buddy, Pick Your Path, Travel Through Time

Made for ages 7 to 11

You don’t read this one from page 1 to the end. At the bottom of most pages your kid decides what happens next. Every path runs through real moments in the city’s history, and the story changes every time they read it again. A story book, a puzzle book and a history lesson, and none of it feels like school.

A Story They Get To Steer

It starts on an ordinary morning under Big Ben. The bells ring thirteen times, a glowing pocket watch lands in your kid’s hands, and they get to choose who comes along. Gavin knows every date. Jake can find his way anywhere and always has snacks. Avilene sees art and music in everything. Poppy has the best nose in the city. Each buddy takes the story down a different path through a different century, so the book is really four books, and a secret ending opens once all six passport stamps are collected.

Along the way they solve puzzles, draw, write and collect stamps and items in the time traveler passport. Some choices lead to funny dead ends. That’s the point. They turn back, pick again, and read the page they skipped. I taught social studies for eight years and this is the closest I’ve come to a kid asking for more history.
