November Health/Fitness Blogger Challenge, Day 2

November 2nd...Give 5 strategies you are using to keep the holiday pounds off.
  1. Stop eating when I’m full.
  2. Eat slowly so you actually feel full.
  3. Keep drinking my 3 full huge big gulp, slurpee, neon green water bottles of water.
  4. Do your daily workout as you mentioned in yesterday’s blog.
  5. I honestly can’t think of a number 5. They all tend to be cliche’. Don’t have seconds, you don’t have to try everything you see, don’t look at hubbies portions because his metabolism is way different than mine…etc.

What are the best tips for photography while traveling with kids?

Shoot in the morning and evening when light is best and kids are freshest. Capture the candid moments between the posed ones. Let kids take photos too because their perspective is genuinely interesting. And decide in advance whether you want to be a photographer on this trip or a participant because trying to be both fully is hard.

What camera is best for family travel photography?

The best camera is the one you actually bring. A mirrorless camera with a versatile lens covers most situations well. A quality smartphone camera is capable of excellent results with the right light. The difference between gear levels matters less than being present enough to notice the moment worth capturing.

How do you take good photos of kids while traveling?

Get on their level rather than shooting down. Chase the light rather than the location. Let them be doing something rather than posing. Burst mode catches the expressions between the forced smiles. And the photos that feel most true are usually the ones nobody knew were being taken.

How do you document your family travels in a meaningful way?

Photo books made annually keep memories organized and accessible. A travel journal written in the moment captures things photos miss. Kids writing or drawing about trips creates keepsakes they will treasure later. And sharing on a blog or with family back home adds an audience that makes the documentation feel worthwhile.

What are the best travel photography locations for families?

Places where kids have something to do rather than just stand in front of. Markets where there is movement and color. Playgrounds in foreign countries. Beaches. Anywhere the environment creates the context rather than requiring a perfect pose.

  1. That’s so funny – I have to remember not to look at my husband’s plate either. That man eats chips and dip and cocktails every night and still fits into the same size jeans he had in high school.

Further evidence that God is a man.
