The Kennedy Space Center Is Orlando’s Best Kept Secret for Kids

Everyone comes to Orlando for the theme parks, and those are their own world, but the day trip I push hardest on families is the one most of them have never considered. The Kennedy Space Center.

It is about forty five minutes east of Orlando on the coast, and it is where America launches rockets into space, for real, to this day. This is not a recreation. You stand under an actual Saturn V rocket, the size of which flattens grownups let alone kids, longer than a football field, hanging above your head. You can see a real space shuttle up close, touch a moon rock, and walk through exhibits that trace how humans got off this planet.

As a former teacher, I love that it is truly educational and kids do not even notice because they are too busy being amazed. Bus tours take you out toward the actual launch pads. If you time it right, you might even catch a real rocket launch, so check the schedule before you pick your day.

Plan a full day. It is big and there is a lot to see. Older kids who love space could stay from open to close.
